Happy Beltane!

Posted by sirensays on May 1, 2009

I am excited to launch this blog on May Day/Beltane!

From Circle Sanctuary, here’s a great description of this wonderful festival:

“It celebrates the height of Spring and the flowering of life. The Goddess manifests as the May Queen and Flora. The God emerges as the May King and Jack in the Green. The danced Maypole represents Their unity, with the pole itself being the God and the ribbons that encompass it, the Goddess. Colors are the Rainbow spectrum. Beltane is a festival of flowers, fertility, sensuality, and delight.”

If you can’t or won’t participate like the folks in the pictures, but still want to celebrate this delightful day, here are some ideas:

-Candle magic: Whether you do a ritual involving fire,  just light a candle to meditate on or to decorate the dinner table, candles are a powerful way to get in touch with the meaning of Beltane.

-Gardening: If you have a yard that you love to work in, spend some time caring for your plants today.

-Walking: I love to visit community gardens at Beltane, giving me a chance to appreciate the toils of others, Mother Nature’s bounty & the unfurling mysteries of Jack in the Green.

-Intimacy: Combining flowers, candles & lovemaking is a superlative way to celebrate Beltane.

-Personal growth: While Beltane is best celebrated as a boisterous communal celebration by many, some prefer to spend time in quiet reflection, taking stock of the growth of their New Year’s resolutions or goals laid out at Imbolg, tweaking as necessary.

While for many years I have celebrated by getting up before dawn to watch the Morris Dancers welcome the sun, this year I stayed abed and dreamed of conjuring my Spring goals, including how to help others manifest *their* dreams. Launching this blog is part of manifesting a goal – to offer my services to others, online, in person and by telephone. Here are my offerings:

  • Spellwork, magic, conjure and ritual consultant
  • Fashion consultant for plus-size and bodies-in-transition women
  • Interior design repurposing with what you already own

So if you want some assistance in answering the siren call of your desires, let me know and I will send you more information, including pricing.

My thanks to Elka Vera for her insightful ideas.

Happy Beltane!! I congratulate you on your new blog, and can’t wait to see more postings. I really love all your ideas – from group to personal – that help us celebrate in the way that is right for us. Today I am lighting a candle all day, and saying this prayer: I am a divine celebration of the Goddess.
    Love, Jenna
